A Day To Remember | Own Blood Magazine

OBM: Hi guys, thanks for your time, how are you today?
I'm doing really good. We're just in the studio wrapping up lead guitars.

OBM: When you first formed "A Day To Remember", what did you want to achieve? What about now, are your goals still the same?
We were five kids who wanted to play music that we liked, and just have fun. We started playing shows, and over the span of 5 years things have culminated to what they are now. We still are five kids that want to play music and have fun doing it. When band's lose sight of why they started playing, that's when things start to go to shit.

OBM: So, you work at the moment on your new album '"Homesick"', what can your fans expect from it?
Everyone should expect more of the same but to a much greater extreme. It's so much heavier and so much catchier. This record is the best thing any of us have been a part of, and we couldn't be more stoked for kids to get ahold of it!

OBM: Do you think this record will surprise people who have this preconceived image of you?
For sure. Like I said. It's more of the same, but so much better. Even if people think they know what's up, they will all be blown away when they hear this record.

OBM: What is the idea behind the album titel "Homesick", has he a special meaning for you?
We called the record Homesick because we've been on the road for the past few years non-stop. It's not us complaining and wishing we were home, it's just a record about how you learn to deal with being away from home, and how much the people there mean to you.

OBM: What inspired the new album lyrically this time?
Same kind of thing as above. Just missing the people you love.

OBM: Do you get a big release out of writing your songs?
For sure. It's our opportunity to express ourselves. Get things we're thinking about out to everyone. It's an awesome feeling.

OBM: You must have had a lot of amazing experiences on the road, do they inspire you when you write your lyrics?

I play bass in the band, but I know what we experience on the road influences Jeremy. This record is about us being gone!

OBM: What were your goals for the new record?
We're just really excited to start touring on these songs. Whatever happens happens. We want it to blow up, but we're just excited to get out there to all of our fans again.

OBM: When will the album released?
February.

OBM: What about music in general? What got you into music?

I think we all got into music from our local Ocala, FL scene. A lot of different bands influenced us all and got us into the type of music we're playing.

OBM: You did a massive amount of touring, the last two years . What was your frame of mind like as a band at the end of that touring?
I was stoked! We just played to so many kids, played on so many awesome tours, and have really grown in those two years. We couldn't be happier.

OBM: Is it hard being away from your family for so long?
Sure it is, but we all know that this our lives. We chose this. It's what we all want, and it comes with the territory. Our families are all really supportive so it helps a lot.

OBM: Considering who you've toured with, what's been your highlight gig?
Our last tour every night with New Found Glory. They're one of our favorite
bands.

OBM: Are your experiences something that you plan on documenting?
We do with our records ;)

OBM: What advice would you give to young up and coming bands, being so you were one not so long ago!
Just always remember why you started playing. Have fun, work hard, and meet as many people as possible. Making friends is the quickest way to excel in this industry.

OBM: If you had to describe your band in 3 words to someone who hadn't heard of you what would they be?
Heavy, Catchy, Badass.

OBM: Any last words for our readers and your fans?
Thanks everyone for being so supportive of our band over the years. We will not disappoint you with this next release. Everyone get excited and start spreading the word. We want this to be our biggest release so far!

OBM: Well, thanks for your time and good luck with the new album, hopefully we'll see you in Germany soon.

You will be! We're heading that way next year. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this interview. Without people like you, who keep people informed, what we do doesn't matter!
