OBM: Give us a little background on The Greenery:

We started The Greenery back in early 2007 as a way for us to have fun. It's now late 2011 and we're still having the time of our lives.

.

OBM: Tell us the meaning behind your name The Greenery…

Snoop Dogg is from Long Beach, CA. We are from Long Beach, CA. And what's Snoop's favorite thing....
.

OBM: Your debut album Spit & Argue is out soon, talk to us a bit about what the title is about and what you hope to get across with this album.

The title, "Spit & Argue", was based around a social club back in the 1920's to 1940's, where people could go and debate any issue that was brought up. People would gather, debate, argue, and sometimes fight about it. With the record, we wanted to bring to light some of the issues we were having with at the time. Bands ruining music, bad friends, family struggles...Spit&Argue is our way of dealing with it.
.

OBM: The first track I was able to hear off the new record was "Faceplant". Can you talk about the idea behind the track?

We had been working on a song at the time that was just going to be fast and thrashy and fun, and Matt's dad told him thatwe should have a song called, "Faceplant". Matt came to practice, told us, and we loved it. So we named it that, and the songis about falling down and getting back up. And skateboarding.
.

OBM: What are some of your sources of inspiration while writing lyrics? Do you feel like you have to be specifically inspired or can you just sit down and bust out song after song?

When Matt writes, he just goes with what he feels. He gets in moods where he can just bust out song after song, and he also gets writers block. If he needs help with anything, he just calls one of us.
.

OBM: I really like your album art. Can you explain a little bit about why you chose this design?

The "bat in the hat" that our buddy Chip is holding is our logo. It's been our thing for years. So we just thought it'd be sweet to use it like that.
.

OBM: What are some long term goals for The Greenery?

We would love to take this band around the world and see all kinds of cool stuff. We hope that we can just keep this up. Riffing, touring, and kicking it hard.
.

OBM: For those of us who haven't had a chance to see you guys yet, tell us what your live show is like and what is most important to you when The Greenery are on stage.

The Greenery live is like setting off fireworks around a pack of wolves during a tornado. Just pretty wild. It's most important to us that we sound solid, but that we have fun and get the crowd to have a good time with us.

.

OBM: What were the last few shows like? And what were the responses from the crowds like?

The last few shows we did were awesome. Good crowds with people who just wanted to have fun. It's music, not math class. Get weird.
.

OBM: You guys seem to have a great connection with your fans. Is that something that was always present or was it something you had to work at?

We will always be cool with our fans. We're all just people, band or not. We appreciate our fans, and we want them to know that.
.

OBM: Who is currently on constant rotation on your ipod?

H20 "Nothing To Prove", He Is Legend "It Hates You", Manners "Appartions", and anything Top 40.
.

OBM: Is there anything else you would like to add?

We want to thank everyone who has ever supported our band and got us to where we are today. We are incredibly lucky to be doing this.

.

We will see you on the road, dudes!
