Well, after having such an amazing experience recording SPEAKER OF THE DEAD with Joey Sturgis, we knew right off the bat that we wanted him to handle production on our next release. This was definitely the right choice, he's got a great ear and the ability to bring the ideas that we have to life. We were familiar with the experience of recording with him, so it was a comfortable transition into the studio. We're having a vocal cover contest and the winner gets to perform that song on stage with us at a show. Es ist nichts für jeden und man muss sich jeden Einzelnen hart erspielen und bei jedem Konzert gibt es eben auch einige, die nicht drauf klarkommen. So muss das ja auch sein. I had a really bad writer's block. So I couldn't write anything and it took me a year to write anything. We ended up with not using the songs I've written, cause they were rubbish. But then I went to stay at my parents, on the countryside, cause I live in London and I hate cities. And the whole album pretty much just came out in like 10 days. That was very, very quickly. I think I was trying too hard before, and then I just stopped trying and it just came out..... | ||||||||||||

Ich möchte nicht sagen, dass wir jetzt endlich wissen was wir tun, was ich aber weiß ist, dass wir mittlerweile viel näher dran sind, als wir es damals waren. NEW ist eine Abwandlung von "New World Order" also "Neue Welt Ordnung". Aber wie jeder sehen kann, geht hier einiges schief in der heutigen Zeit. Klar, verglichen zu der Zeit von ca. 60/70 Jahren und davor, haben wir es noch ganz gut getroffen aber weltweite Krisenherde breiten sich aus, Kriege, Finanzkrisen, Panikmache durch Medien, Volksverdummung etc. sind an der Tagesordnung und wir steuern immer weiter Richtung Abgrund, wenn es so weiter geht. Ja, das muss für uns so sein. Lyrics gehören einfach genauso dazu wie die Musik und demnach machen wir die auch für alle zugänglich. Die Texte handeln halt von anderen Leitmotiven, die wiederum gar nicht so weit auseinanderliegen. Wir selbst nennen es "Techno-Metal", was wir da machen. Dieses kategorisieren ist immer schwierig. Ingesamt kann man sagen, dass wir Post-Hardcore mit Metal und elektronischen Sounds verbinden, ohne jedoch in die Industrial- oder TranceCore-Genres zu kommen. Grundsätzlich können wir sagen, dass wir vor allem von Metal-Bands wie Pantera, Machine Head etc. beeinflusst sind. The first time was back in 2006 and we played some festivals in Europe over the summer and then we had some club shows in Germany. And then we had a lot of drama going on in our career. Our guitar player Casey passed away and we got in several law suits with our record label, managers… It slowed us down a lot. So we weren’t able to come over to Europe or do any traveling outside the United States during that time period. While we wrote Hellwakening we had to split with our guitarist Tom, and with the new metalhead Andrew we tought that this is the time to make the step and change the name. The new name 'The Southern Oracle' is inspired by the novel 'The Never Ending Story' and it has an amazing meaning regarding our life and power of our fantasy. It's a story about a boy who's reading a book and he find himself in it as his alter ego who has to save Fantasy from the Nothing. This world is gonna be meaningless without our fantasy so we must keep it and don't let it be exterminated by the Nothing. Die Texte unterscheiden sich maßgeblich von der Vorgänger-CD. Versus ist viel persönlicher und emotionaler. Auf Versus behandelt weniger ein spezielles Thema, zumindest nicht offensichtlich. Es geht eher um die Gefühle rund um was in mir persönlich vorging, also wir mit dem Songwriting angefangen haben. Das war ziemlich schwierig! Da wir mehrere Besetzungswechsel an Drums und Bass durchmachten, hat es ne ganze Weile gebraucht bis wir wieder zusammengefunden haben. Deshalb auch so gegensätzlich. Alle Songs sind über eine lange Zeit entstanden. Ab Anfang 2009 bis knapp Mitte 2010. ...... |

Can't say that I've heard to many bands from europe, but those that I have heard and liked are definitely doing their thing. One band that really stood out for me was Deal With It, the band we went on the road with over there. Sad to see that their breaking up, but that kinda shit happens. They're a great group of guys and they put out a lot of solid shit that I truly enjoy. Cornered and New Morality are some of my favorites as well. They play their shit real tight and got some great shit going musically. They also always got some cool, funny/weird shit to say which is cool, haha....... |

The title, "Spit & Argue", was based around a social club back in the 1920's to 1940's, where people could go and debate any issue that was brought up. People would gather, debate, argue, and sometimes fight about it. With the record, we wanted to bring to light some of the issues we were having with at the time. Die Russland Tour haben wir im Frühjahr erfolgreich abgeschlossen und sie war mit Verlaub eine der besten Erfahrungen die wir bis dato gemacht haben. 3,5 Wochen in einem fremden Land, zum Teil Shows in Städten, in denen die Punk Szene erst 2 jahre alt ist und wir als erste Band von außerhalb performt haben. Dazu natürlich eine unmenge an krassen und schönen Eindrücken auf den Shows aber auch im Zug von Stadt zu Stadt. Die Idee dazu kam auf unserer ersten kurzen Osteuropa-/Russland-Tour, wo wir nur drei Tage in Russland unterwegs waren. ...... |

I can see it a little bit but since we have more groovy songs right now I think that that side doesn't show as much anymore.
